Pape, Eigennam. under the word Πτολεμαΐς), and Romans Ace, and by modern Europeans (Acre or) St. Jean d' Acre (from a church erected there in the middle ages to St. John); it is now under Turkish rule and contains about 8000 inhabitants (cf. Baedeker, Palestine and Syria, English edition, p. 356): Acts 21:7.
