Thayer's Greek Lexicon STRONGS NT 2882: ΚόρινθοςΚόρινθος, Κορινθου, ἡ, Corinth, the metropolis of Achaia proper, situated on the isthmus of the Peloponnesus between the Aegean and Ionian Seas (hence called bimaris, Horace car. 1, 7, 2; Ovid. metam. 5, 407), and having two harbors, one of which called Cenchreae (see Κεγχρεαί) was the roadstead for ships from Asia, the other, called Lechaeon or Lechaeum, for ships from Italy. It was utterly destroyed by L.
